The physiological importance of the reproductive (genital) organs system is connected to two main functions. On one hand, ensuring the production of gametes (germ cells such as ovum cells and spermatozoa), and on the other hand, producing important endocrine functions through sex hormones. These two activities are mutually interrelated, as sex hormones create the necessary conditions for the reproduction of gametes in the organism. The reproductive system consists of developing germ cells and reproductive pathways in both genders
