Samarkand

Tavsif

Samarkand is the second greatest city in Uzbekistan and the center of the Samarkand region. In ancient times, the city was known as Marakanda, the capital of Sogdiana. The origin of the name "Samarkand" is still unknown, but some scholars believe it may have come from the word "semizkent," meaning "rich population."
